Drums - Horizontal lifting/moving
|
5-gallon pails to 55 gallon drums
up to 1,000 lbs. can be easily lifted and moved horizontally
with a vacuum lift system, or with mechanical attachments on
a chain or air hoist. |
|
Metal, plastic, or fiber drums can
all be handled easily from the top, and or side. If vacuum cups
arc used on the drum top surface the lid must be able to bear
the weight of the full load. These systems require an overhead
crane support. |
|
Rotations -Rotating a drum under a
vacuum tube lifter is difficult, as the lift tubes are sensitive
to a shifting center of gravity. If a vacuum assist system is
used it is recommended that the load be placed into a rotating
drum cradle. Mechanical grabs with manual, electric or pneumatic
rotation controls can accomplish the lift/rotation task. |
|
There are a number of attachments
available for use with forklifts to move single, or multiple
drums. |
|
Mobile, wheeled drum carriers
can be used where the work surface is smooth and level. |
